Effingham, Illinois 62401

Cemeteries in this part of Illinois date back to the earliest pioneers which were the first to travel on the National Road. These prairie fields are the final resting place of farmers, statesmen, lawmen, thieves, heros, villains and ordinary folk-- all who helped fabricate our history. Effingham Genealogy Society continues to preserve the history our region has established. A collection of works is available at Helen Matthes Library. Members of the Genealogy Society are available from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
